For those of you unfamiliar: the joke here seems to be that it’s so wildly out of character and unbelievable for Millie Bobby Brown to act violently or intolerantly, that presenting her as such makes people laugh. Users have taken to photoshopping incredibly vile and homophobic things onto photos of the star, because of irony. The 14-year-old Stranger Things star appears to have left the social media platform in reaction to becoming a homophobic meme enjoyed by certain members of the LGBTQ community. €œYou could genuinely cause so much damage to her reputation and it’s weird as f**k.â€Īnother fan wrote that “yall evil as f**k for ruining millie bobby brown like this shes a literal angel and her career could end cause of some dumbasses who think using violent homophobic memes with a minor is funny.â€Ī lot of salient points here (neiboltst/twitter)Īnd one said – with receipts – that “MILLIE BOBBY BROWN SUPPORTS LGBTQ+.The memes giveth and the memes taketh away, and today the memes have robbed us of Millie Bobby Brown’s Twitter account. One tweet, for instance, shows a Snapchat post by the actor with “just ran over a faggot cant wait to kill all these gays off†photoshopped over it. Many of the posts attribute obviously false quotes like “We don’t need gun control, we need faggot patrol†to the 14-year-old star.
This has not affected the viral nature of the meme, however, with one tweet posted on May 12 saying “Millie bobby brown arriving at pride†above a video of someone driving a car into several protesters.
She deleted her account on May 13 (Twitter) Many have pointed out that Brown, who was one of the first recipients of MTV’s gender-neutral awards last year, has long been a vocal supporter of LGBT rights.
